JANUARY 2011 GIRL ON TOP OF THE MONTH

FEATURING MISS CJ (AKA CHERYL JARMAN)

Ladies and gentlemen, Girl On Top enters into the 2012 new year blazing with a feature about an amazing DJ/Producer/Remixer from Dallas who is on FIRE! Please allow us to introduce to you the lovely, multi talented Miss CJ aka Cheryl Jarman as our January 2012 Girl On Top of the Month.

At the age of 7, Miss CJ received her 1st record player from her Mom. When she was 9, her mom bought Miss CJ her first tape player. She would sit around for hours making mix tapes of her favorite songs off the radio.  She even made her own commercials and traffic updates. This went on for years. She even found a way to take a walkie talkie and make it sound like a helicopter. How you might ask? Miss CJ (the little nerd) took her walkie talkie and held it up to a tape recorder while pressing rewind. That would make the sounds of a helicopter propeller. Then she would talk over it and give her traffic updates. When she played the tapes back, it sounded just like someone on the radio from a helicopter. Her mother used to get a kick out of the mix tapes.

Miss CJ recalls Wham’s Make It Big album being the first record she ever owned. After her mom bought her the vinyl, Miss CJ went on to play it non-stop for two weeks straight. The rest is history.

This city girl has been spinning Trance, Hip Hop, House, Drum & Bass, and Breaks since 1997. She has also graced crowds with her performances in a band that toured with P.O.D. When producing and/or remixing, Miss CJ creates music using keyboards, vocals, and Ableton. Her passion for music and love for dance has facilitated a unique performance style. Her elegance is what gives this DJ a charismatic appeal and puts her in the limelight. She performs at numerous night clubs, upscale private parties, and lounges all over the world. In 2010, she started ATB Collective, which is a promotions team built for only the best DJ's, remixers, and producers from all over the globe.  Miss CJ produces music for movies, video games, soundtracks, and commercials. So, if you love experimental tracks that groove and/or the whole electronica genre, keep an eye on this girl.
